    Orientation Leader Application

    An Orientation Leader (OL) conveys information to new students and their families about Shawnee State University’s degree programs and services. The OL assists with all orientation events and plays a vital role in facilitating the adjustment of new students to our campus and the community. The OL position is an outstanding opportunity for students interested in gaining leadership skills and enhancing their marketability.

    Responsibilities:
    • Assist with the implementation and execution of Orientation programs, including Freshman, Transfer, Parent, Fall, Spring and Summer Orientations.
    • Lead group discussions for groups of incoming students and family members.
    • Provide support to academic and departmental offices during Orientation.
    • Explain SSU academic and organizational opportunities.
    • Guide incoming students on an informative tour of the SSU campus.
    • Aid students with the online registration process.
    • Attend ALL Orientations and training sessions.
    • Perform extra duties is required, including but not limited to:
    • Assist with assembly of orientation materials,
    • Calling students/parents reminding them of upcoming orientation dates
    • Participating in Admissions & Orientation events throughout the academic year.

    • Good communication skills (verbal and written)
    • Positive attitude and work ethic
    • Currently enrolled student at Shawnee State University
    • Desire to work with students, faculty, family, and staff
    • Minimum GPA of 2.5 after Fall 2023
    • Maintain a 2.5 GPA during the time of employment as an Orientation Leader
    • Problem solving abilities
    • Sensitivity to diversity in all forms
    • Must enroll for Fall 2024 and be registered as a full time student
